Mr. Heller is in his second year at Montgomery Township Upper Middle School. He has been teaching Band in NJ public schools for over 5 years. In addition to his experience teaching Middle School and High School Band, Mr. Heller is an accomplished saxophonist and woodwind player who frequently performs throughout the tri-state area. After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of the Arts (Philadelphia) in 1999, Mr. Heller was asked to tour the world with the World Famous Glen Miller Orchestra, under the direction of Larry O’Brien.  During the next 10 months, Mr. Heller performed in much of the continental US, Hawaii, the Carribean, South America and a six-week tour of Japan. Upon returning from the road, Mr. Heller continued his studies and received his Master’s Degree in Music Education from the University of the Arts in 2001, where he then embarked on a career as a Music Educator.

 

Mr. Heller continues to be an active performer, and has performed with artists such as Grover Washington, Jr., Auturo Sandoval, and Jimmy Bruno. Mr. Heller currently leads the Center City Jazz Quartet, which performs weekly at various weddings and private affairs (ebetalent.com). In addition, Mr. Heller is the featured saxophonist with Exit45, an original smooth-jazz band based in South Jersey (exit45.com) Other groups Mr. Heller is affiliated with includes the Experience Big Band, the Tony Cille Septet, and the Midnight Sun Orchestra. Mr. Heller is also a freelance musician with various wedding and cover bands throughout the Philadelphia area.

 

As a teacher, Mr. Heller’s Concert and Jazz Bands have received many top honors at various local and state competitions. Mr. Heller also serves as the President of NJ-IAJE (International Association for Jazz Education) for Region 2 (central NJ). Mr. Heller currently resides in Mercer County, NJ.
